Anti-Flicker Animation Settings for Vue
Paul Fitzgibbon over at the e-on forums posted a very nice sample and render settings directions for creating animations which render fast and flickerless. Definitely worth a check!

Blood Toys For Motionbooks

This illustration was done for the cover of Blood Toys, a new Motion Book title now available from author Floyd Wray. From the website:
"Nazi Germany tapped into something, never fully explained. If you had full access to the files at NSA you'd understand why. The myth that the Nazi's were somehow consorting with extraterrestrial lifeforms hides an even darker reality. But it is not an easy reality. Historians have been hesitant to pursue a subject that touched on occult practice, weapons-development and voices, off-planet.
In 1996, a team of documentary filmmakers made a discovery that forced the subject into the open. With the exploration of Point-103, the lost, Nazi-era submarine bunker on Canada's Baffin Island, the whole world began to hear the first hints of an inconvenient secret. The viral-influences behind many of the weapons-programs in the Third Reich, infected the black-projects research in the US at the end of the war.
Blood Toys. Technologies we shouldn't be passing on to the children."
This scene modeled and rendered entirely within Vue 6 Infinite. WIP Here.

Alternating Line Colors in Fields
Trevor DeVore has created a very nice tutorial where he shows how to create alternating line colors in fields automatically for Rev. Definitely worth checking out.He also wrote the whole ScreenSteps documentation platform which is a wonderful and affordable way of posting tutorials online. Works on both Macs and PC's

64-bit wxPython
Dave Burdick, author of SkinVue, just posted a brand new compile of wxPython for all Windows 64-bit platforms.
This means now the VueTools toolbar will work on Vista 64 and WinXP 64. Thanks Dave!

Model Like a SuperHero!

A sneak peak at some of what I've been working on lately. The idea is to show how you can use Vue to create some really nice models quickly. Hope to have it ready by December!
Take a PEEK at the first few pages!
Group Manager for Revolution
This is a rework of an older plugin with new interface and removal of frontscripts. Some other GUI features have been added such as auto-hiliting and scrolling of the Groups List.It only does one thing, but it does it well.
It allows you to see all the groups which exist in a stack, and whether or not they are currently ON the current card. You can then choose to remove or place them on the current card as you see fit. Very handy for group management across a bunch of cards in a stack.
To download just type into the message box (or cut and paste text below):
Then save and reopen as a palette. As with all other Altuit plugins, this is compatible with the altPlugin Toolbar. This version was not yet tested on Mac, but the previous version was. Please let me know if there are any issues. Thanks.
Custom Scrollbars in Revolution
Here's a beta plugin which allows one to create custom colored scrollbars for fields in Rev. It's been tested on WinXP, Vista and Unit tested on Macs. Not sure about Linux.
It's pretty simple and not as beautiful or fancy as those created by Scott Rossi, but it's definitely a 'no frills' approach, which has minimum impact. It's works like my altFldHeader which puts buttons at the top of fields for sorting tables, etc.
To download it, just type into the msg box (or cut/paste):
Then be sure and save. Make sure and run this in palette mode. If you use altPluginToolbar, it will install and automatically run in palette mode. Be sure and read the instructions fully before using it. Holler back at me if you find any problems.

Marv the Robot
Welcome!
Welcome Friends,
Well, I've decided to create a blog-- for several reasons. Many of you already know Chris and I invented a similar technology at Altuit, Inc (where we work) years ago, before blogs. It is a Content Management System which is super-easy to use, and it's called Hemingway. It goes far beyond basic blogging and provides site structure tools as well as the typical 'sections' and 'items' of your basic blog. But, what it doesn't do as well, is automatically construct RSS feeds. And it's not particularly good for 'personal' sites, like blogs which automatically flow dated items to other pages.
I create lots of tutorials, tips and tools for both Vue (a 3D program) and Revolution (a programming language). It seems like a good thing to allow others to follow the goings-on via RSS and a single entry point.
And if you don't yet use RSS feeds, then you should consider signing up with Google and using their excellent RSS feed reader named aptly: READER
Just click the white Posts button on the right of my blog, and select the 'Add to Google' button and you're good to go!
Think of an RSS feed reader as a newspaper, and the feeds are the parts of the Internet you're interested in.
So, welcome to my little blog. Hope you enjoy youself! You can always contact me at chippATchipp.com.
